How is it calculated?
Bituach Leumi first sets the average daily wage: total gross pay over the last six months divided by 150. The daily benefit is then built in bands based on the 2026 basic amount of ₪415: 80% of the daily wage up to ₪207.50, 50% up to ₪311.25, 45% up to ₪415, and 30% up to ₪2,075. Under age 28 the rates are lower: 60%, 40%, 35% and 25%. The benefit is capped at ₪550.76 per day for the first 125 days and paid for up to 25 days a month.
In the worked example, an average gross salary of ₪10,000 gives a daily wage of ₪400 (₪60,000 ÷ 150). The bands add up to ₪166 + about ₪52 + about ₪40 = about ₪258 per day, or roughly ₪6,400 in a full month. Entitlement days depend on age: up to 25 — 50 days; 25-28 — 67; 28-35 — 100; 35-45 — 138; 45 and over — 175. With 3 or more dependents: 138 days under age 35 and 175 from age 35. Eligibility requires 12 months of insured employment within the last 18 months and registration at the Employment Service (Lishkat HaTaasuka).
