How Many Days Between Dates? Days, Weeks & Work Days

Updated: July 2026

The difference between two dates is the number of nights between them — the end date itself is not counted. For example, 5.7.2026 to 12.7.2026 is 7 days: exactly 1 full week and 5 working days under Israel's Sunday–Thursday work week.

Total days between dates

How is it calculated?

The calculator subtracts the earlier date from the later one to get the total days — the number of nights between the two dates. It divides that total by 7 to show full weeks plus remaining days, and separately counts how many days in the range are working days by the Israeli week: Sunday through Thursday count, Friday and Saturday don't.

In the example: from 5.7.2026 (a Sunday) to 12.7.2026 (a Sunday) there are 7 days — exactly 1 full week — of which 5 are work days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Keep in mind: the end date is not included in the count, holidays are not deducted from work days (only weekends are), and the order you enter the dates doesn't affect the result.

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator count the end date?

No. It counts the nights between the dates, like a hotel stay: 5.7.2026 to 12.7.2026 is 7 days, even though 8 calendar dates appear in the range. To include the end date as well, add 1 to the result.

Are Israeli holidays deducted from the work days?

No. Work days follow the Israeli week only — Sunday through Thursday — so just Fridays and Saturdays are removed. Holidays such as Rosh Hashanah or Passover are not deducted automatically; for an exact count over a holiday period, subtract them manually.

What if I enter the later date first?

Nothing changes — date order doesn't matter. The calculator uses the absolute difference between the two dates, so 12.7.2026 to 5.7.2026 gives the same 7 days.
